Our terminal network includes Brisbane AutoStrad™ Terminal, Sydney AutoStrad™ Terminal, East Swanson Dock Terminal (Melbourne) and Fremantle Container Terminal.
Patrick has had a presence on the Australian Waterfront since 1919 when Captain James Patrick together with Mr. F.W. Radford established Patrick Steamship Co. Ltd to operate shipping services along the coast.
In 1925 the company changed it's name to James Patrick & Company Pty. Limited in part to reflect the company’s new status as a shipping line and stevedore of it's own vessels.
During the 2nd World War James Patrick’s ships were requisitioned by the Australian Government for the War effort. Additionally, the company was asked to stevedore other government requisitioned vessels which marked the beginning of their expertise as a contracting stevedore of it's own vessels.
The original founder Captain James Patrick died in 1945.
During the 1950’s the company decided to focus solely on providing stevedoring and agency services in all Australian ports. Over the next three decades the business grew into the largest stevedoring business in Australia and added transport and travel services to its portfolio.
In the 1980’s container shipping was growing and the business went through a number of mergers and acquisitions. This culminated with the formation of Patrick Stevedores in 1993. In the mid 1990’s Patrick pushed to modernize work practices and improve efficiencies.
Matters were brought to a head in 1998. Following 43 days of crippling strikes and an overtime ban, plus intervention by the Federal Court of Australia, Patrick was able to negotiate enterprise agreements, which allowed the company to improve productivity , re-establish job security and reduce costs.
Patrick Container Terminals was the first terminal operator to investigate automation technology on the Australian waterfront. Between 1997 & 2007 Patrick developed, tested and implemented AutoStrad™ technology. Brisbane AutoStrad™ Terminal was officially launched in 2007 as the worlds first automated straddle carrier terminal and only the world’s third automated container terminal.
Patrick continued to develop the AutoStrad™ technology and in 2015 invested $600 million to implement Sydney AutoStrad™ terminal which is the world’s largest automated straddle carrier container terminal.

Nick joined Patrick in January 2019 as the Chief Financial Officer. Nick was previously Vice President, Finance for Brookfield’s Infrastructure businesses in Asia Pacific where he was involved in the acquisition and separation of Patrick from Asciano and the reporting of Patrick’s operating and financial performance to the Brookfield consortium.

Steve has 20 years’ experience in the marine and ports sector with a strong track record of success in delivering business growth as a senior manager.
Maria Zoras-Christo

Maria has over 15 years experience within the legal arena, working on large scale construction projects and litigation matters for the likes of AMP, UNSW, Watpac and Daikin and was Deputy General Counsel for Asciano prior to joining Patrick in August 2016.

Victoria Moore joined Patrick in August 2016 as General Counsel and Company Secretary, having worked in the Asciano business for several years. Victoria previously held senior legal roles at top firms in Sydney and London.

Chris has over 15 years of experience in manufacturing, transport, logistics and container terminal industries with a strong background in continuous improvement methodologies.
Matthew Hollamby
Fisherman Island Terminal Manager
Matthew has over 30 years experience in the stevedoring industry and had held various positions within Patrick during this time. He was instrumental in managing the construction and establishment of the world’s first automated straddle carrier terminal in Fisherman Island in 2005.
Bruce Guy
Port Botany Terminal Manager
Bruce has over 22 years’ experience in leading operational teams both in the military and in his extensive container terminal background. He transitioned into the stevedoring industry in 2001, engaging in operations leadership roles across 5 container terminals in Australia with a proven track record of operational improvement and change.
Rita Antranik
Fremantle Terminal Manager
Rita Antranik joined Patrick in May 2019 as the first female to be appointed to the role of Terminal Manager in Australia.
Rita holds over 14 years of experience in the maritime and stevedoring industry and has held various operational roles across multiple locations in Australia.
